Places to Eat and Things to Do for the Summer in Wilmington

My precious, darling boyfriend lives in Wilmington so when I visit him we usually explore new places to eat and things to do. There are a couple of places that I think are essential to visit in Wilmington.

1. The Beach

Most people think of the beach when they come to Wilmington. It is usually crowded during the summer but it's worth taking a drive down to explore the shops and food nearby.
1 Britt's Donuts: located on Carolina beach, this donut shop is popular for their handmade donuts.

2 Sweet and Savory Cafe located near Wrightsville Beach. We wandered in here looking for something novel to try. This place has a good variety of all kinds of food, great staff, and some unique and tasty desserts.

2. Early Bird gets the Worm?

I wasn't expecting to find that some of the best places were open only at very early times but Wilmington has some interesting options. Some of the places with the best food were open odd hours and you can only get them in the early morning or late at night.

1 Jimbo's is a breakfast and lunch house open from 10am - 2pm. They have some of the freshest food options and best service.

2 Donuts: Rise Donuts and Duck Donuts are two donut places that have opened recently in North Carolina. They both have fresh made donuts in a variety of flavors and other breakfast options. Be sure to try the maple bacon donut from Duck Donuts!
Rise: 7am to 2pm
Duck: 6am to 6pm

3. Berry Picking

Berry picking is a bucket list type of deal but Lewis Farms in Wilmington was a great experience. The berries tasted fresh and sweet. We picked 3 pounds of blueberries and bought some strawberries and blackberries. They also sold plants and fresh ice cream at the location. It was a well-kept field with families littered throughout, picking berries.

4. Some of my favorite Restaurants

Mission BBQ: a southern barbecue restaurant with many great sandwich and sides options. They also have in-house made sauces.

Wasabi: a quiet family owned Japanese-Korean hybrid restaurant. The owners are nice and funny, their food was the icing on top. They offer a variety of dishes and have sizable portions. Everything was fresh and tasted great every time.

Southern Thai: A small restaurant that might be hard to find but had some of the best curry you can find. The food tasted fresh and had many great options. I enjoyed all of the options of curry but my favorite had to be the green curry (the spiciest option). They also offered an interesting coffee bubble tea (as well as the traditional Thai tea).
